OFF: Standard Roguelike (Save exits to Title, loading resumes).
ON: Separate manual in-game Save & Load allowed; your manual save survives death.

A hero who dies on depth 4 or deeper may leave their floor behind, with a grave, a ghost and their pack, for a later run to find. Options has a switch that turns bones off for every mode.

The second floor holds a shrine, and about one floor in four below it. It offers three favours for an offering of gold, grants one, and crumbles. Off: no shrines, as in Rogue.

About one floor in five holds a fountain. Each drink does what a random potion would, good or bad, and it runs dry after one to three. Off: no fountains, as in Rogue.

About one floor in four holds a pair of pads in two distant rooms. Step on one and you stand on the other. A monster that sees you vanish follows. Off: no pads, as in Rogue.

From the third floor down, about one room in eight is a library, an armory, a larder, a barracks or a crypt, each with its own contents and keepers. Off: every room is a plain room, as in Rogue.

Floors 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 always have a lair, and about one floor in eight from the fifth down has one too: a champion, a named, stronger monster from deeper down, asleep in a room of its own, with one good item to drop. Off: no champions, as in Rogue.

The fourth floor always has a shop, and about one floor in seven from the third down has one. Buy its wares and sell from your pack, for gold. Walk out without paying and the shopkeeper comes for you. Off: gold buys nothing, as in Rogue.

Some floors have locked doors, on the way down, on a vault or on side rooms, and each key lies where you can walk to it or is carried by a monster. Without the key the door can be forced, noisily. Off: no locks, as in Rogue.

About four doors in five start closed, so you cannot see into a room until you open its door. Clever monsters open doors and close them behind them; beasts batter them down to reach you. Off: every door starts open, as in Rogue.

From the fifth floor down, a floor may have a warded door on the way down or on a vault. Nothing breaks it: it opens only with its own key or the Knock spell. Off: no warded doors. Needs Locked Doors.

The run starts in a town above the first floor, and the Amulet wins the game when you carry it back there. Off: the run starts on the first floor, and climbing out of it with the Amulet wins, as in Rogue.

No permadeath: a hero who dies rises at the floor's up stairs with full hit points, keeping the pack, but 2 Constitution poorer for good. Below 1 Constitution the death is final. Off: death ends the run.

Some floors have an iron gate across a doorway or a corridor, and a lever in another room that raises and lowers it. Monsters cannot pull levers. Off: no gates, as in Rogue.

About one floor in three has rubble choking a corridor or two. Walk into it to clear it: three to five turns, fewer if you are strong, and the noise may wake what sleeps nearby. Off: no rubble, as in Rogue.

About one floor in five has a piece of map made by hand: a ring of pillars round an altar, a guarded cell cut into the rock, a trapped gallery. Off: no set pieces, as in Rogue.

From the fifth floor down, about one room in twelve is a hazard: a room full of confusing or sleeping gas, a flooded room with loot on a dry rise, or a lit room that goes dark once you are well inside. Off: no hazard rooms, as in Rogue.

Some floors have pools that slow you and rust your armor, and pits you can jump into to land a floor down. Off: every floor is dry and whole, as in Rogue.

About one floor in six hides a vault: a sealed room of treasure behind a secret door, sometimes with a guard. Off: no vaults, as in Rogue.
